Responsibilities/Duties

The Fence Installer is responsible for performing labor and tasks necessary for the installation of chain link, wood, ornamental and vinyl fences. This individual assists other Installers and Crew Foreman with the transformation of design plans into quality fences meeting or exceeding our customer expectations.

• Equipment & Material Preparation: Assist in the daily preparation of trucks and equipment, ensuring proper loading and securing of materials.
• Fence Installation: Perform all aspects of fence installation, including removal of old fencing, ground preparation, trench digging, concrete mixing, and positioning fence elements.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate air pounders, post hole diggers, saws, and other hand tools required for fence installation.
• Vehicle Operation: May operate a company vehicle to and from job sites as needed.
• Customer & Team Interaction: Provide friendly and professional assistance to customers, coworkers, and sales staff.
• Worksite Organization: Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area to optimize service and productivity.
• Communication & Collaboration: Effectively communicate with coworkers, customers, delivery drivers, and sales staff to ensure smooth operations.
• Safety Compliance: Follow all company safety policies and procedures while working in a safe and responsible manner.
• Winter Support: Assist with snow removal during the winter months as needed.
• Additional Responsibilities: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

• Outdoor Work: Work is primarily performed outdoors throughout all seasons.
• Weather Exposure: Exposure to various outdoor weather conditions, including inclement weather such as rain, snow, heat, or cold.
• Noise Level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Hearing protection is required for duties involving equipment operation that exposes the individual to elevated noise levels.
• Chemical Exposure: Duties may expose the individual to chemicals and fertilizers.

Schedule

• Peak Season Hours: Typical work hours are Monday through Friday from 6:45 am to 5:00 pm (40-55 hours per week) during our peak season (approximately April to November). Saturday hours as needed.
• Full-time Seasonal Position: This is a full-time seasonal position.
• Overtime: Occasional overtime as workload dictates.
• Winter Hours: Hours vary in the winter months (approximately December through March) based on snow removal needs.

Skills You Need

• Fencing Experience: Previous experience with or ability to learn effective Installation skills and techniques.
• Equipment Operation: Previous experience operating equipment (loader, bobcat, skid steer, or other used in landscape installation) is helpful but not required.
• Product Knowledge: Knowledge of fence material is helpful but not required.
• Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
• Driver’s License: A valid driver's license is required.
