Description:
The Instructional Coach bridges the gap between DSP and Program Facilitator by assisting in curriculum planning and training DSP staff in instructional delivery. This role supports quality programming by developing lesson plans, coaching staff, and helping to ensure consistency of services across the program.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
1. Provide guidance, modeling, and coaching to Direct Support Professionals on instructional strategies and consumer engagement.
2. Assist in onboarding, training, and professional development of Direct Support Professional staff.
3. Monitor performance and provide constructive feedback to ensure quality standards are met.
4. Support the Program Facilitator with scheduling, planning, and staff coverage.
5. Serve as a point of escalation for concerns related to instructional practices or consumer engagement.
Duties/Responsibilities:
1. Assist in designing curriculum, lesson/activity plans, and instructional strategies tailored to participant needs.
2. Collaborate with the Program Facilitator to coordinate daily, weekly, and monthly instructional schedules.
3. Model instructional delivery for Direct Support Professionals and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
4. Observe program activities, documenting effectiveness and identifying areas for improvement.
5. Maintain program spaces, materials, and activity supplies, ensuring readiness and organization.
6. Support Direct Support Professionals in aligning activities with person-centered goals and participant abilities.
7. Assist with data collection, documentation, and outcome tracking.
8. Promote consumer choice, independence, and advocacy through supportive instruction.
9. Communicate effectively with consumers, families, and team members to ensure cohesive support.
10. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (therapists, social workers, etc.) to support individual plans.
11. Provide direct support coverage on the floor as needed.
12. Uphold program policies, promote team collaboration, and ensure compliance with agency standards.
Requirements:1. At least 18 years of age.
2. Strong interpersonal, coaching, and communication skills.
3. Ability to effectively train, model, and provide constructive feedback to staff.
4. Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
5. Ability to manage multiple priorities while ensuring individual needs are met.
6. Strong problem-solving and adaptability skills.
7. Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Prior experience working with individuals with disabilities strongly preferred.
3. Experience in instructional coaching, curriculum planning, or staff development desirable.
4. Familiarity with community resources and activity planning a plus.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to lift at least 35 pounds; upper body strength and leverage required
2. Ability to sit, stand, or move for extended periods of time.
3. Capability to assist consumers with physical and personal support needs are required.
4. Willingness and ability to travel to program sites, community events, and agency locations.
