Our network serves over 1,400 students annually at our six campuses across the District, with a staff of over 250 dedicated individuals. The Special Education Coordinator (SEC) reports to the Director of Student Support Services and oversees all campus-based multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings. The SEC is primarily responsible for ensuring compliance with established policies, procedures and/or regulations as related to federal and state laws governing Individualized Education Programs (IEP). The role requires an individual with expertise in: Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act of 2004 (IDEA) & No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE), and special education policies/procedures. The role requires certification in special education as well as a mastery of the concepts, practices, and technical skills sufficient to address special education mandates, guidelines, issues, and concerns. Essential Duties Planning/Coordination Coordinates the delivery of special education services to students at each campus Monitors guidelines, timelines, and completion of student assessments, evaluations, IEP development and renewals according to federal, state, and district guidelines Support Special Education Teachers and Case Managers with ensuring all special education meetings (annual and triennial) are conducted according to IDEA, local regulations and CCPCS policy timelines Establishes and follows procedures for team meetings and data collection in the special education Data System (Special Programs) Schedules all required special education meeting participants Serves as a liaison between campus leadership, special education teachers, Director of Special Education, and related stakeholders Responds to student, parent/guardian, school staff, and community member inquiries and requests in a timely manner Supports coordination of contractors that provide direct services and evaluations MDT Meetings Schedules and runs campus-based pre-meetings, ensuring that team follows through with action-items and deadlines Schedules and runs MDT meetings, ensuring that team members are prepared with relevant data and parents are fully informed of all matters related to their child Takes comprehensive meeting notes according to CCPCS requirements Compliance Monitors students’ records for accuracy and compliance Supports RSP compliance as outlined by Director of Special Education Ensures IEPs and Progress Reports are thorough, data-driven, and well-written per CCPCS guidelines Meets all compliance requirements and deadlines as outlined by federal and local law Training/Technical Assistance Provides support and technical assistance to special education teachers Provides professional development to school staff relative to special education mandates, guidelines, research-based instructional strategies and compliance issues Attends and participates in administrative and professional group meetings Collaborates with the Central Office Team (Director of Special Education, Instructional Coach, other Coordinators) to identify and secure relevant professional development and training around special education matters for teachers and related service providers Conducts targeted observations to collect student data and provide feedback to teachers; models lessons as deemed necessary Knowledge and Skills A high level of commitment to customer service and respect at all times Exceptional organizational and time management skills Excellent communication skills including an ability to execute written communication that is clear, concise, and error-free Ability to work with diverse populations and personalities An independent thinker with the ability to quickly resolve challenges without prompting Must be able to adapt well and continue to perform job responsibilities at a high level during non-routine situations and periods of ambiguity Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically MS Word & Excel Qualifications At minimum a Bachelor’s Degree in special education or a related field, Master’s preferred At least four years of special education teaching experience, preferably in an urban environment Able to demonstrate compliant, data-driven performance in all fields related to special education including lesson plans and IEPs Seniority level Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Employment type Full-time Job function Job function Education and Training Industries Education Administration Programs Referrals increase your chances of interviewing at Center City Public Charter Schools by 2x Sign in to set job alerts for “Special Education Coordinator” roles.
