Job Description

Position Summary: The Corporate Transportation Manager is responsible for planning, direction, and coordination of all transportation operations, ensuring efficient and cost-effective movement of all material and goods related to Company OE and aftermarket business. This position will work directly with MP&L Managers at each location to ensure logistics strategy is being executed in most efficient way.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Develop, implement, and manage ongoing short and long term logistics strategy for the company.
  • Manage all aspects of spend and reporting for all logistics activities for plants and aftermarket
  • Plan, direct, and manage activities of 3rd party logistics partner(s)
  • Competitively bid company requirements within the market.
  • Negotiate best rates among transportation and logistics costs
  • Work with manufacturing, warehouse operations, and suppliers to oversee coordination of best cost-effective routes
  • Develop and measure key performance metrics related to supply chain management
  • Develop and execute savings initiatives, involving 3PL and plant MP&L personnel
  • Submit annual freight estimate for finance budgeting and monthly reporting
  • Submit monthly freight accrual and supervise freight payment activities
  • Ensure transportation activities are compliant with State and Federal regulations in respective areas
  • Provide critical input in new production quotes through management of an ongoing component and inter-company freight cost calculator
  • Track SOP / EOP / Part Transfers to identify and proactively manage significant changes to transportation routes
  • Supervise trade advisor services and broker actions to ensure company is compliant with US import and Export regulations
  • Resolve claim issues as necessary
  • Approve relevant invoices as they occur

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree in Supply Chain Management or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in Logistics industry
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or warehouse environment
  • Highly experienced in, and strong understanding of, government regulations related to supply chain
  • Experience with strategic planning and implementation
  • Experience with the coordination of personnel and resources
  • Up to 75% travel to company facilities on regular basis
